This medication gives relief to asthmatic adults, and children who are 1 year old; while it is used to treat outdoor allergies in adults, and children above 2 years; as well as indoor allergies in adults, and children who are 6 months in age. It is also prescribed to prevent occurrence of exercise-induced asthma [broncho-constriction].

Singulair should be taken daily by asthmatics for when you are exposed to any “triggers” [allergens], it helps in reducing asthma symptoms.
It’s a once-a-day dose, which is different for adults and children, and depends on individual medical condition. If you are taking it for asthma, take it every evening; for treating seasonal allergies, it can be taken at any time of the day; but remember to take the dose at the same time each day. The medicine can be taken regardless of food.

To prevent exercise-induced asthma, the medicine has to be taken 2 hours before you exercise, but if you are already taking a tablet daily for treating your asthma or an allergy, then do not take a second dose before you exercise.
