Diclofenac can be taken by mouth in form of a regular tablet and an extended-release (long-lasting) tablet to take by mouth. Voltaren is usually taken two to four times a day. The extended-release tablets need to be swallowed intact. Do not crush them. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Diclofenac exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Voltaren may cause an upset stomach. Take Diclofenac with food or milk
Consult your doctor about the possible side effects of using Voltaren for your condition. Your doctor may need to monitor you carefully for side effects and alter the doses if necessary.
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it.
Diclofenac should be stored at room temperature. Voltaren should be kept away from excess heat and moisture. Hence, should not be stored in the bathroom. Voltaren should be kept in the container it came in only. The container should be kept tightly closed and out of reach of children. If the medicine become outdated or you are no longer taking it then you need to discard it safely. Consult your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

1. If you are allergic to Voltaren, aspirin or other medications for pain or arthritis or any other medicine

2. If you are taking or have taken prescription and non-prescription medications, especially, anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin), aspirin, atenolol (Tenormin), carteolol (Cartrol), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), diuretics ('water pills'), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid), medications for arthritis or diabetes, methotrexate, metoprolol (Lopressor), nadolol (Corgard), phenytoin (Dilantin), probenecid (Benemid) and vitamins.

3. If you have or have ever had liver, heart, or kidney disease; high blood pressure; gastritis; intestinal problems such as bleeding from the stomach or rectum; ulcers or other gastrointestinal disease or SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus).


5. If you are having surgery, including dental surgery

You should know that if you are taking Voltaren, it might make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how Voltaren affects you. Remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. Do not drink alcohol while taking Voltaren.
It is very important to know as how Voltaren affects you. Your doctor will order certain lab tests to check your response to Voltaren. Hence, you need to keep all appointments with your doctor. Continue your normal diet, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Take care to see that no one should take your medication.
