Uses
Frusemide Injection is used for its diuretic activity in all species. Frusemide Injection is used in small animals for the treatment of:
congestive cardiomyopathy
pulmonary edema
hypercalcuric nephropathy
uremia
Frusemide Injection is also used as adjunctive therapy in hyperkalemia and, occasionally also as an antihypertensive agent.
In cattle,Frusemide Injection is approved for use in the treatment of post-parturient udder edema. In cases of edema involving cardiac insufficiency, the continued use of heart stimulants like digitalis or its glycosides is indicated.
Frusemide Injection has also been used to help prevent or reduce epistaxis (EIPH) in race horses.
Furosemide Injection is an effective diuretic-saluretic for use in the treatment of acute noninflammatory tissue edema in dogs and horses, and for use in the treatment of edema (pulmonary congestion, ascites) associated with cardiac insufficiency in the dog.
Use of diuretic therapy in either dogs or horses is determined by the clinical pathology producing the edema.
