Everyone tells lies but surveys say that men are more likely to lie. It has been proved in surveys that every man tells lies at least thrice in a day. That means if we calculate for a year roughly it goes to 1092 lies. And women tell 2 lies in a day that means they lie 728 times in a year. This statistics clearly shows that men lie more than women. The next questions that comes to mind is ‘Why?’

It is not that men lie only to women but they can lie to each other about anything and everything. They can lie about the number of girlfriends they have and also the number of pushups they do at the gym. The fact is that men love to tell lies and they manage that quite nicely. Women also lie, but rarely, and if they lie they get a guilty conscience and so they have hundreds of stories to defend themselves.

Here are few examples of statements that men and women frequently use while lying.
Lies that men tell:
• Nothing to worry, I am fine.
• Just about to reach.
• That was not expensive.
• My cell battery was dead.
• I got stuck in the traffic.
• We are just friends.

Lies that women tell:
• This product is not new for me.
• I did not keep it, I did not touch it.
• I have got a very bad headache.
• No, I have not thrown that away.
• I’m on my way.
• We are just friends.

The above mentioned statements are the commonly used excuses for lying by both men and women. Men lie a lot, because maybe the jobs they do demand lying. Men working in government agencies, politics, psychiatrists etc. are required to lie, so lying becomes a necessity for them.

All men lie unless they are extremely dedicated to their religion. It is important to know that though men lie a lot, most of the time it is for harmless reasons; that means mostly they lie to defend their self-esteem more than anything else. However, women lie comparatively less than men but most of the times they have mysterious motives behind it. Women can get caught lying as they cannot manage lying as easily as men do (there could be some exceptions). When women need to lie they plan it first, make a long story to fit the lie in, and then they feel themselves safe to lie.

So it is clear that women do not like lying but they have to lie out of necessity; whereas men like to lie because it gives them confirmation of their delusions.
