Why do Women Cry More Than Men?

It is believed that women are the cry babies. If this is true then why is it like that?

Crying is common in a boy and a girl when they are kids but after the age of twelve why boys stop crying and why do girls keep the trend of crying even though they grow up? One survey has a report that proved that women cry 25 to 60 times in a year whereas men cry only 5 to 15 times in a year. That means that the people’s belief is true. However, no one ever knows why it is true. There area few reasons to justify this which are as follows:
•    Social conditions:
When boys and girls are brought up; after a certain age limit they grow up with different social conditioning. Boys are always taught to be strong and powerful. If they show more sensitivity they are teased by saying things like – don’t be like a girl, you are not a girl to do these things. And as girls grow up they are always taught to show their feelings and to express them properly; also they are taught to focus more on their beauty and charm.
•    Physical difference:
Women also cry more than men because they have a different physique and also have different hormonal levels. Till the age of approximately twelve, boys and girls have the same average levels of all hormones – however after that age girls have the hormone prolactin increasing, and when they reach the age of 18 they have almost 60% more of this hormone than the boys. And this is the one of the reasons that women cannot control their tears.
•    Difference in tear glands:
Research has also proved that the tear glands of men and women are not same and so there is a difference in their crying too. Men do not produce too many tears while crying and hence their tears never fall from their cheeks. They get only misty eyes or a very few tears. Women have different types of tear glands and so they can produce lots of tears that can run down their cheeks. So when a woman starts crying her tears come automatically in larger amounts.
•    Emotional in nature:
Women are born with greater sensitivity. They are more involved in emotions and feelings. They get impacted by any type of emotion, which makes them cry easily; like frustration, personal problems, physical problems, hormonal changes, stress, menstruation, and menopause. These are the things which can lead a woman to burst into tears when matters go beyond her tolerance.
If you consider crying from the health point of view, crying helps to relieve the pressure on the heart. By crying you can express your feelings and by doing this, ultimately you are removing pressure from your heart. And that the reason for why men have more heart diseases than women.
